The Laboratory of Intelligent Software Engineering (LabISE) is a research group affiliated with the Federal University of Pampa (Unipampa) and registered with the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). The group was founded on July 1, 2019, by Professor João Pablo S. da Silva and master’s student Miguel da S. Ecar, inspired by the keynote lecture Intelligent Software Engineering: Synergy between AI and Software Engineering, delivered by Tao Xie at the opening of the 2018 edition of the Innovations in Software Engineering Conference (ISEC ’18).

LabISE promotes innovation in Software Engineering through the application of different forms of intelligence — understood as the ability to perceive, learn, reason, and adapt to human, organizational, and computational contexts — with the aim of fostering scientific, technological, and social development. The group conducts research and innovation projects with scientific and technological output, organized around three main research lines: Data Science, Computing Education, and Continuous Improvement.

LabISE’s activities take place at the Alegrete Campus of Unipampa and are connected to the university’s graduate programs, particularly the Graduate Program in Software Engineering (PPGES) and the Graduate Program in Applied Computing (PPGCAP). The group also collaborates with the Technological Park of Pampa (PampaTec). LabISE is composed of faculty, student, technical, and external researchers responsible for carrying out the group’s projects.
